Rupertsland Institute facilitates certified training to qualified Métis individuals and supports real world work experience to help them develop the practical skills required by industry. By partnering with RLI and supporting the employment of Métis workers, you will be able to access the following programs:
- Employment Partnership – This program is for Métis individuals who have the skills and accreditation for a job but lack the experience required to secure meaningful employment. Employers who plan to hire Métis workers permanently may receive a subsidy of up to 50% of the wages (excepting MERC) for a period of six months or less, while they facilitate practical on-the-job training to RLI clients.
- Youth Summer Employment – This program offers a summer job opportunity to Métis youth (ages 15-30) and helps Métis students gain valuable career-related experience that supports a return to school in the fall. Employers can receive a subsidy of up to 50% of the wages for a total contribution not to exceed the provincial minimum wage. This program runs between May and August. Not-for-profit organizations may be reimbursed up to 100% of the wages and up to the provincial minimum wage.
- Employment Supports – This program supports Métis individuals who have confirmed employment but may not have the tools, work attire and/or safety certification required by the employer. The program provides funding to Métis individuals to successfully enter the labour market.
- Group Training Projects – These initiatives offer customized training projects to Métis individuals in your area. By partnering with RLI to develop group training projects, employers are assured that new workers meet all the requirements for successful integration into their company. RLI creates customized training projects in response to labour shortages and employer partnerships.
