The City of Calgary partners with local non-profit organizations to deliver social, recreational, arts and sports programs to Calgarians. These partnerships contribute to our overall quality of life and strengthen the non-profit sector. The Prevention Investments (PI) Capacity Building Program is an investment initiative to help eligible non-profits build their organizational effectiveness and address emerging issues in Calgary. City Council has approved up to $1 million for one-time capacity building projects in 2017. The Prevention Investments (PI) Capacity Building Program has two streams:
- Organizational Effectiveness
- Emerging Issues
Eligible Applicants
- Non-profit organizations registered under the Societies Act or the Companies Act in Alberta, or the federal Not-for-profit Corporations Act, and operating within Calgary’s city limits are eligible to apply
- The organization must have a track record of effective program or service delivery aligned with the proposal
Eligible Expenses
- Organizational Effectiveness Stream: Strategic or business continuity plans, diversity policies, or program improvements
- Emerging Issues Stream: Innovative strategies to address service gaps, initiating or convening partnerships to collectively address an emerging issue
