Schedule Yourself To Success In Grants

Your calendar skills matter in grants.

See It To Believe It

Hello Everyone,

Given today is the fifth Monday of the month, it’s time to mix things up. We’ll be back next week with your list of Upcoming Grant Deadlines.

Today I want to give you an important tip in grants: building a grant calendar is an essential skill in winning grants.

The first step is identifying the grants you want to apply for over the next 18 months.

You can search grants for free in the grant database or watch for them in this Monday newsletter.

Once you have your list of grants, you need to sort them by deadline date.

You’ll then have something like the following:

Total Opportunity: $92,000 in one year.

I would imagine that some of you reading this email are already training staff, buying equipment, or travelling abroad – why not get some money back. And I’m not even mentioning intern grants ($30k) – that grant is open right now for $30k and accepting applications.

Schedule these grant dates in your calendar – that’s the key. For example, schedule a team meeting in early December for “summer grants.” That one step helps ensure you don’t miss the deadline.

Now here is some secret sauce: you need to be decisive and planned. Remember most grants fund future projects. You need to decide soon what 2024 is going to look like.

Which tradeshows are you attending? Are you hiring a summer student next year? Which courses are you and your team going to take?

If you want to become advanced at grants, you can begin to attend grant events held by your favorite grant agencies. Also, organizations such as the St. Albert and District Chamber of Commerce host events like Grow Your Business Internationally with Export Grants. I’ll be the guest speaker at this webinar. At our last Chamber online event, we had a grant agency staff member in attendance! Imagine, you get to interact with the people who run the program BEFORE you even apply.

An administrative team member on your staff is highly valuable in grants. Think executive assistant or equivalent. Someone who knows when you’re hiring, where you are going, or what you are building. This person can schedule the team, which is a critical step in grants.

When this team member doesn’t have grant experience, we can win this person a training grant to train them. The Advanced Grant Writing Course starts in 58 days (Sept 27) and is eligible for a training grant that covers at least 2/3 up to 100% of the tuition. The course cost without a grant is $5,000 plus tax.

I would be happy to help you submit the training grant (complimentary) this week. Because you are applying early, you can likely find out if you won the grant before registering for the Advanced Grant Writing Course. Feel free to reply to this email or text me at 780-297-6177.

Have a great week everyone!

“A personal investment in our mission.”

“I cannot express how much the streamlined grant writing process has helped me as a busy leader. With the implementation of the 2-step process with my colleague, I was able to confidently engage stakeholders and prepare meeting packages without feeling overwhelmed by the amount of grants available. This process has not only allowed me to focus on other business priorities but has also given me the confidence to write grants for future growth and resiliency. I highly recommend this process to anyone who wants to make grant writing less daunting and more future focused.

Thanks to David, this year we have been successful in over $100,000 in program grants and have more than doubled our CORE operating funding. We will be forever thankful for Alberta Business Grants. You brought us a light in our darkest time.”

“100% grant applicant success rate.”

“I took the Advanced Grant Writing Course in Spring of 2022. Before taking the course, many startup founders have told me not to waste time with grants because of the tedious and time-draining process. However, taking the course was a game change for me personally and Awele because David made it very straightforward and easily applicable. Although the cost of the course is very worth it, David also helped us secure a grant to pay for a significant cost of the course. Since completing the course 8 months ago, we already secured over $75,000 in Grants till date with 100% grant applicant success rate.

We look forward to securing over $100,000 additional grants money.”

“The guest speakers he brought in were incredibly informative”

I learned so much from taking the Advanced Grant Course through David Kincade. He not only gives you all the tools and resources needed to write a successful grant, but he also provides you with useful knowledge on good project management and networking skills to increase your chance of writing a winning grant.

David’s passion and excitement for writing grants makes the class very engaging and he keeps your focus throughout the entire course. The guest speakers he brought in were incredibly informative as well and they provided such great information in both their fields of expertise. If you are interested in writing successful grants, then taking David Kincade’s course is a must! Thank you, David, for being an excellent teacher!
