The Government of Canada announced the Clean Energy Fund (CEF) in January 2009 as part of its actions to ensure a healthy environment, by supporting clean energy research, development and demonstration (RD&D) projects, including carbon capture and storage.
The objective of CEF was to support the development of the new, cutting-edge energy technologies that are essential for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) and other air emissions in energy production, transmission, distribution and use.
