Bio-Food Innovation Program: Stream 3 – Business Innovation in the Commercial Fisheries and Aquaculture Sector│MAPAQ

Cover up to 80% of eligible expenses, for a maximum of $210,000 per project.

Description

Increase the development of new knowledge, products or processes and their adaptation to commercial fisheries and aquaculture enterprises.

Eligible Applicants

  • Commercial fishing and aquaculture and aquatic products processing enterprises;
  • Band councils.

To be eligible, projects must meet the following conditions:

  • Be carried out in Quebec;
  • Have a maximum duration of 3 years;
  • Consist of applied research and experimental development activities;
  • Have reached a Technology Readiness Level of at least 2 before starting;
  • Achieve a maximum of Technology Readiness Level 5 at the end of the project phase funded by this component;
  • Contain elements of scientific or technological uncertainty;
  • Lead to the creation of a significant new or significantly improved element;
  • Consider that the product or process, if intended for sale, may have commercial potential;
  • Use tests and analyses according to a scientific protocol;
  • Call on competent external experts or with the necessary expertise to carry out the project.

Eligible Expenses

Financial assistance can cover up to 80% of eligible expenses, for a maximum of $210,000 per project. A 10% increase in the rate of financial assistance may be granted for projects located in the Magdalen Islands agglomeration.

Deadline Date

Projects are submitted continuously. The deadline to apply for financial assistance is March 1, 2028.
