Training Program.

Description

Project Based Labour Market Training (PBLMT) provides funding to organizations in support of projects that provide a combination of training, on-the-job work experience and follow-up support to eligible individuals that will improve their employment skills and prepare them for in-demand jobs. Training takes place in a supportive group setting and is supplemented by a range of activities like counselling, vocational and/ or learning assessments, work experience, job search skills, mentorship, referral to community resources and post project follow-up.

Eligible Applicants

  • Unemployed people eligible to work in BC;
  • Have established a claim for Employment Insurance (EI) benefits; or
  • Have had an EI benefit period that ended within the previous 60 months; or
  • Have earned more than $2,000 in insurable earnings and paid employee EI premiums on those earnings in at least 5 of the last 10 years (Note: the 5 years do not have to be consecutive years); or
  • Receiving BC Employment and Assistance; and
  • Support and referral from WorkBC Employment Services Contractor (WorkBC) or an Indigenous Skills Employment Training (ISET) Provider.

Eligible Expenses

All organizations applying for project funding are expected to contribute, within their ability to do so, to the costs of the project. While not a requirement, financial supports from other organizations is encouraged to support project costs.

All costs requested should be essential to the success of the project and necessary for project activities.

Deadline Date

The Project-Based Labour Market Training program operates on a continuous intake basis, meaning applications are accepted year-round. Interested organizations should first review the Applicant Guide and then email the CEP team at CEPTEAM@gov.bc.ca to discuss their project idea before completing the online application. The CEP team will contact applicants after their application has been reviewed. Please visit the official WorkBC website for specific details and guidelines.
