Foreign Credential Recognition Program (FCRP)

Description

The Foreign Credential Recognition Program supports the labour market integration of skilled newcomers by:

  • simplifying and harmonizing credential recognition processes
  • providing loans and support services to help with the foreign credential recognition processes, and
  • helping skilled newcomers gain their first Canadian work experience in their profession or field of study

The Foreign Credential Recognition Program also supports joint initiatives among provinces and territories and other partners to improve the mobility of Canadian workers in regulated occupations as they seek jobs across Canada. The objectives of the program are to:

  • develop and strengthen Canada’s foreign credential assessment and recognition capacity
  • contribute to improving labour market integration outcomes of skilled newcomers, and
  • support interprovincial labour mobility

Eligible Applicants

  • Provincial and territorial governments
  • Regulatory bodies
  • Professional associations
  • Industry groups
  • Public health institutions
  • Not-for-profit organizations
  • Sector and cross-sectoral councils
  • Unions
  • Municipal governments
  • School boards
  • Universities
  • Colleges
  • CÉGEPs; and
  • Consortia composed of all or some of the aforementioned types of recipient organizations

Eligible Expenses

The following costs are eligible for funding (please note that all eligible costs are subject to evaluation and negotiation):

  • administrative costs (e.g. wages, general operational expenditures, equipment rental and employment-related costs for staff)
  • capital costs
  • professional fees (e.g. research, legal, consultants, facilitation, IT and technical expertise)
  • travel costs; and
  • other costs reasonably associated with operation of a non-for-profit association or ad-hoc consortium and related to the objective of the project
