This funding opportunity is part of our Department-Initiated – Multiple Invitations (DIMI) pilot project. Only organizations invited by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) are eligible to apply.

The main objectives of this initiative are:

  • contribute to the enhanced enjoyment of human rights by women and girls in all their diversity
  • advance gender equality in Benin.

Eligible Applicants

Organizations invited to submit a concept note demonstrate the following criteria:

  • Canadian civil society organization (legally incorporated in Canada) with an office in Benin
  • can demonstrate (at least 5 years within the last 10 years) of experience managing, delivering and achieving international development results related to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in Benin
  • can demonstrate commitment to and experience in feminist programming, principles and practices (e.g. intersectionality, locally-led, gender-transformative)
  • can demonstrate experience supporting Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs), vulnerable groups and feminist networks (e.g. direct funding, capacity building) in Benin
  • can demonstrate established relationships and networks with WROs, and other diverse groups within the feminist movement in Benin
  • can demonstrate at least 5 years of experience managing projects valued at CAD$4,000,000 or more.

An invitation to participate in this process is not a promise for funding.

Eligible Expenses

  • enhancing organizational sustainability of local Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs)/vulnerable groups to deliver their gender equality mandates
  • strengthening programming and advocacy of WROs/vulnerable groups and Women Human Rights defenders (WRDs) to advance gender equality and empower women and girls
  • increasing effectiveness of sub-national, national, regional and global women’s rights platforms, networks and alliances to affect policy, legal and social change.

Deadline Date

Invited organizations have until March 5, 2025, to apply.
