Desperation vs. Authenticity
Think of grants differently.
Grants come to you.
You don’t “go to” grants.
Governments are looking for people to solve their problems.
They’re looking for leaders and innovators.
Be yourself. Be bold.
When tragedy strikes in your space, speak up.
When problems seem difficult to solve, raise your hand.
Stop saying, “I want a grant.”
Start doing, “Government, I see the problem you’re trying to solve. Can we meet so that you can understand what we do?”
The government then says, “We like you. How can we help you?”
Desperation repulses them.
Problem solvers attract them.
Try this today: What is one thing that you can do (unique to you) that makes the world a bit better place? Want some accountability? Tell me and I’ll hold you accountable!

When I started this course I had been working with an organization putting together grant applications along with general administrative tasks.
The applications were submitted by the client. While working on this course I have now submitted more than one grant.
We won 3 employment related grants. One of the agencies came back to us when they had more money to give out. This course taught me a lot about the processes and procedures when putting together an application.
