Community Energy Fund │ ATCO

In 2026, we will be dispersing $200,000 to various organizations and programs within the ATCO Gas, ATCO Electric or ATCO EnPower service territory in Alberta for community energy projects.

Description

Alberta’s energy modernization efforts must involve reducing our energy demands and lowering GHG emissions, in part, through the implementation of new technologies and solutions that will help serve our communities.

ATCO is committed to meeting the needs of a new and exciting energy future, which is why we have established the Community Energy Fund to help municipalities, schools, not-for-profits, and registered charities pursue solutions, opportunities, and education that will contribute to a more sustainable future.

Eligible Applicants

Organizations/groups must reside or operate programming within the ATCO Gas, ATCO Electric or ATCO EnPower service territory in Alberta. Those eligible to apply for funding are:

  • Municipalities
  • Non-profit organizations
  • Registered charities
  • Public schools

Eligible Expenses

Projects or programs that qualify for funding from ATCO’s Community Energy Fund include:

  • Energy audits to identify energy efficiency improvements
  • Energy efficiency upgrades for community facilities
  • Energy reliability and energy storage solutions
  • Education programs or student clubs supporting renewable gas, lower-emitting technologies, or renewable energy solutions
  • Lower-emitting options for public or community transportation
  • Pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for lower-emitting energy projects
  • Renewable energy solutions and other lower-emitting technologies

Deadline Date

Applications are accepted between April 2 and June 30, 2026. All applications must be submitted by June 30, 2026 to be considered.
