​Investing in our communities is an important part of our socially responsible approach to operations. Through our Community Investment Program, we invest in the well-being of our communities by lending a hand to organizations dedicated to making a difference and improving the overall quality of life in Central Alberta.

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible for funding from NOVA Chemicals, requests for support are screened against defined criteria. We support organizations and causes that are working to advance three core focus areas aligned with NOVA Chemicals’ values and business strategy We seek to be a catalyst for:

  • Inspiring Tomorrow’s Innovators (STEM, education, trades)
  • Strong, Thriving Communities (basic needs, safety, health)
  • Environmental Stewardship

Successful requests generally are:

  • Registered charitable/non-profit organizations (U.S. applicants must include a current W9 with their application)
  • Programs that support an identified community need and are beneficial to multiple stakeholders
  • Organizations that directly serve the communities where we have operations

Eligible Expenses

We have supported the United Way as our charity of choice for more than two decades as part of our long-term commitment to taking care of our neighbours in the communities where we live, work and play.

Our commitment includes:

  • offering employee-driven annual campaigns in all our regions across North America
  • matching employee pledges, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000 per person each year
  • annually our employees volunteer about 2,000 hours getting to know more about the needs in our local communities and lending a helping hand toward United Way-funded projects.
