The Program supports Canadian organizations that send a wide range of interns interested in putting their time and skills to work for communities in developing countries.

Eligible Applicants

Youth aged 18 to 30, living in Canada, particularly those facing employment barriers.

Note:

“Barriers to employment”, for the purposes of this new iteration, refers to persons between the ages of 18 and 30 who belong to or identify themselves as members of a group that faces discrimination, such as people living with disabilities, Indigenous peoples, racialized youth and members of the 2SLGBTQI+ community.

Eligible Expenses

Intern placements can range from 1 months to up to 9 months and include pre-departure and return training.

All program-related expenses, such as airfare, transportation costs, visa and passport fees, health insurance, pre-departure and post-internship training, etc., as well as the cost of living on-site, are covered.

Deadline Date

The International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) is delivered through various partner organizations, each managing their own application cycles and deadlines. While the program itself is recurring, specific intake dates vary by partner and are announced periodically.
