Producer Research and Evaluation Program (PREP) │Results Driven Agriculture Research (RDAR)

Up to $20,000 per year, is available per applicant.

Description

Funding is available for on-farm research that helps producers evaluate the feasibility and impact of new production practices, technologies, or products under real farm conditions.

Eligible Applicants

Eligible applicants for the PREP program are primary producers who meet the following criteria:

  • Operating in Alberta;
  • Responsible for input costs for a crop or livestock operation that produces at least $25,000 in annual farm cash receipts; and
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management and work on the farm; but does not include a landlord whose only interest in the crop or livestock operation is ownership of the land.

Eligible Expenses

  • Costs associated with sample collection, sample analysis, data analysis, and economic analysis.
  • Costs associated with third-party service providers, agronomists, veterinarians, professional agrologists, certified crop advisors, and technical consultants.
  • Costs of materials, supplies, and equipment rentals directly required for the project, and beyond normal production practices (maximum of $10,000 per project).

    All eligible expenses must occur on or after April 1, 2025.

Deadline Date

The Producer Research and Evaluation Program (PREP) is currently open and accepts applications on a continuous basis. There is no fixed deadline for submissions. Applicants are encouraged to visit the official RDAR website for detailed guidelines and to verify specific application requirements.
