Strive 4 Work │ EMPLOY Abilities:

Selected participants will receive a living allowance of $15/hour while attending and participating in the 10 weeks of skills training.

Description

Strive 4 Work is an employment focused program for individuals with disabilities in St. Albert and the surrounding area. The program consists of 8 weeks of ONLINE training and 10 weeks of work experience with the potential for employment to follow.

Objectives:

  • To assist individuals with disabilities in the St. Albert area to prepare for and obtain employment and develop the skills necessary to maintain employment.
  • To assist employers with strategies, supports and resources to help them integrate potential employees with disabilities into their workplace.

Eligible Applicants

  • Adults 18+
  • Individuals with disabilities, mental health barriers, or medical conditions
  • Proof of English Language Level 5 or higher
  • Living in Edmonton
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Not currently on probation
  • Not currently in a drug or alcohol program
  • Ready, willing and able to work full or part-time
  • Not on AISH (Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped)

Eligible Expenses

Participants will learn:

  • Communication skills
  • Stress management techniques
  • Resume and interview skills
  • Computer skills
  • Job search strategies
  • Standard First Aid
  • Food Safety training
  • Additional certificates like Proserv

Deadline Date

The June intake is now full. Fall intake begins September 9, 2024.
