To be eligible, you must:
The benefit provides eligible parents with payments of $500 per week, paid every 2 weeks, for a maximum of 35 weeks over a period of 3 years.
You can decide to stop receiving the benefit at any time and restart receipt of the benefit at a later date within the 3 years following the incident.
Applications for the Canadian Benefit for Parents of Young Victims of Crime are accepted on a continuous basis. Eligibility for the benefit is tied to a qualifying incident (death or disappearance of a child due to a probable criminal offence). Parents can apply after such an incident. The benefit provides income support of $500 per week for a maximum of 35 weeks over a period of 3 years following the incident.
