Challenge Call | Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA)

Phase 1: DIANA’s Accelerator Programme receive contractual funding of 100,000 euros to continue iterating their solution in response to the Challenge. Phase 3: DIANA Innovators may receive additional funding of up to 300,000 euros to further iterate and demonstrate their solution, develop transition strategies, and work with investors and end users to identify pathways to adoption.

Description

DIANA’s Challenges for 2026 have launched, calling all innovators who are on a mission other than develop ground-breaking dual-use technology within this year’s 10 challenge areas.

Eligible Applicants

  • Companies are required to provide identifying information such as legal name, place of registration, company headquarters, attestations relating to ownership and control, and DUNS/UEI number.
  • DIANA will accept proposals from all companies meeting the basic eligibility criteria. However early-stage start-ups or small and medium-sized enterprises with limited experience in defence and security will benefit most from the unique DIANA Challenge Programme.
  • Universities and non-profit groups are not eligible to submit a proposal, although we foresee opportunities for collaboration in future years.
  • DIANA seeks technology solutions at maturity levels of TRL 4 and above. However, lower TRL solutions with potential disruptive impact will be considered, as will higher TRL solutions which may require adaptations for defence and security end users.
  • Companies are required to agree to terms and conditions governing their participation in this competitive selection process, to ensure its integrity.

The deadline for the DIANA Challenge Call (2026 Cohort) was 11 July 2025, at 12:00 UTC, for the initial proposal submission. This program features a multi-stage accelerator process. This specific call is now closed. DIANA expects to launch future challenges on a regular basis.
