The Government of Canada may fund up to 75% of the total eligible project costs, with the exception of Indigenous-led projects and those led by Territorial governments, where Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) may fund up to 100% of the total project costs.

Description

The Climate-Resilient Coastal Communities (CRCC) Program will provide funding to enable communities and sectors to work together at a regional scale to co-develop coordinated actions that increase climate resilience in coastal regions. The CRCC received $41 million under the Government of Canada Adaptation Action Plan, which accompanied the release of the National Adaptation Strategy.

 

Eligible Applicants

This Call for Proposals is open to individuals and organizations that are incorporated or registered in Canada, including:

  • Academic institutions;
  • Non-governmental organizations;
  • Industry, research, and professional associations;
  • Companies and businesses;
  • Indigenous communities or governments;
  • Community, regional and national Indigenous organizations; and
  • Provincial, territorial, regional, and municipal governments and their departments and agencies.

Indigenous-led project stream – open to applications

There is an application process for eligible Indigenous applicants who require additional support and/or time to develop their project proposals outside of the Open Call for Proposals process.

Eligible applicants can include:

  • Indigenous communities or governments;
  • Tribal Councils or entities that fulfill a similar function (e.g., general council);
  • National and regional Indigenous councils, and tribal organizations; and
  • Indigenous (majority owned and controlled by Indigenous people) organizations.

Eligible Expenses

  • Salaries and benefits
  • Professional, scientific and contracted service
  • Honoraria and ceremonial costs where Indigenous recipients or Indigenous partners of recipients are involved.
  • Communication materials, publishing, and promotions.
  • Travel, including meals and accommodation.
  • Conference fees, approved on a case-by-case basis.
  • Materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Facility rental
  • Licence fees
  • Overhead expenditures approved by NRCan to a maximum of 15% of NRCan’s contribution
  • Reimbursement of the Goods and Services Tax, Harmonized Sales Tax, and Provincial Sales Tax, net of any tax rebate to which the Recipient is entitled
