Community Events Program │ Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC)

Description

The Community Events Program helps organizations that hold events to boost their community’s visibility and promote economic growth in Northern Ontario.

Eligible Applicants

Municipalities, Indigenous communities, not-for-profit organizations, and Local Services Boards located in Northern Ontario.

  • New and recurring events
  • Community or tourism-based events
  • Annual and/or recurring events that include:
    • new programming or activities
    • and are anticipated to improve the quality and/or sustainability of the event, such as:
      • Increased attendance
      • Increased tourism expenditure (additional overnight stays, more local spending)
      • Raising the event profile/quality
      • Promoting sustainability of future events
      • Other enhancements, as deemed eligible by NOHFC

Eligible Expenses

Funding is available as a conditional contribution covering up to 30% of eligible costs, with a maximum of $15,000.

If requested and approved by NOHFC, 50% of the funding can be given when the agreement is signed, and the rest after the final event report is submitted. Alternatively, full payment can be claimed after submitting the final event report.

The NOHFC Board of Directors may provide more funding for projects that show significant economic benefits, but funding decisions are made on a case-by-case basis and not all qualifying projects will receive funding due to limited resources.

Deadline Date

Applications must be submitted a minimum of 16 weeks prior to the event date.
