Community Pathways to Justice grant │ Government of Alberta

$1.25 million in one-time funding; grants range from $50,000 to $150,000 and must be used for operational activities.

Description

Through the Community Pathways to Justice grant, $1.25 million in one-time funding will be made available to help community-based organizations and Indigenous communities enhance access to justice and provide survivor-centered services. This initiative is part of Alberta’s 10-year strategy to end gender-based violence by preventing harm, holding offenders accountable and empowering those impacted.

Eligible Applicants

Applicants and the initiative being funded must be based in Alberta and be one of the following:

  • Registered not-for-profit organizations and/or registered charities in good standing.
  • First Nation, Métis Nation of Alberta or Metis Settlements.

Eligible Expenses

This grant is intended for program activities that serve survivors of gender-based violence. A program may be eligible if it:

  • supports operational programs that address the safety, well-being and diverse needs of individuals affected by gender-based violence in the justice system through sensitive and client-centered approaches
  • empowers survivors from a front-line perspective with improved access to legal supports, including legal advice, advocacy and system navigation services
  • improves the accessibility and effectiveness of services related to gender-based violence across criminal, civil and family law systems, including diversion, system navigation and integrated supports
  • delivers justice services to those affected by gender-based violence
  • improves coordination in legal, social and community services which results in reducing barriers for survivors
