Taking Action on Family Violence Grant Program │ Government of Alberta

Grants from $50,000 to $500,000 for each project

Description

The purpose of the Taking Action on Family Violence Grant Program is to prevent, interrupt and respond to family violence. This includes addressing prevention, early intervention, crisis intervention and rebuilding lives.

Eligible Applicants

Eligible organizations must be a legal entity, such as:

  • registered organizations, not-for-profit organizations or charities in good standing
  • First Nations, including bands, district, tribal councils and associations
  • Métis representative organizations and Metis Settlements
  • entities that exist through legislation
  • fiscal agentsYouth

Eligible Expenses

This program supports eligible organizations to address family violence through projects that will:

  • be evidence-informed
  • be trauma-informed
  • be culturally safe, relevant and informed
  • be collaborative (includes individual or provincial organizations that have demonstrated collaboration with regional and/or community partners)
  • be innovative
  • promote protective factors and reduce risk factors
  • address gender biases and the complex, related root causes of family violence
  • demonstrate measurable outcomes
  • serve priority populations including, but not limited to:
    • Indigenous Peoples
    • women and children
    • men and boys
    • 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals
    • rural, remote, and/or northern communities
    • youth (ages 12 to 17)
    • newcomers, immigrants and refugees
    • persons with disabilities

Deadline Date

The program is now closed. Funding distribution began September 1, 2025.
