Supporting Artistic Practice — Composite Activities │ Canada Council for the Arts

Up to $100,000 per year, up to 3 years, for a maximum of $300,000.

Description

Composite Activities is part of the Supporting Artistic Practice program. It funds multi-year activities for Canadian artists, arts and cultural workers, artistic groups and organizations to carry out multiple, large or complex projects, for a period of up to 3 years. Grants support a wide range of activities that meet one or more of the following objectives:

  • Support the artistic process from research to presentation
  • Support the publication of literary books and magazines authored by Canadian writers
  • Improve and innovate the Canadian arts sectors’ capacity to support the arts and artists
  • Develop and improve ways for the public to engage with Canadian artworks and artists
  • Develop and support markets for Canadian arts both domestically and abroad

Eligible Applicants

Any of the following applicants who has received at least 1 composite grant or 2 project grants in the last 5 years from the following funding opportunities: Research and Creation, Concept to Realization, Artistic Creation, Short-Term Projects, Long-Term Projects, Literary Publishing Projects, Sector Innovation and Development, Public Outreach, Sector Support, Innovation and Development, and Representation and Promotion.

  • Artistic groups
  • Artistic organizations
  • Business cultural connectors
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis artists or arts/cultural workers
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis cultural carriers
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis for-profit organizations
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis groups or collectives
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis not-for-profit organizations
  • Presenting organizations
  • Arts supporting groups
  • Supporting organizations

Eligible Expenses

Composite Activities supports multiple, large or complex activities over a period of up to 3 years.

Eligible activities may include one or a combination of the following:

  • Artistic creation and production
  • Residencies
  • Artistic or sector-based research
  • Support to Canadian publishers for publication of literary books and magazines authored by Canadian writers
  • Publishing research and critical discourse in Canadian arts and literature
  • Knowledge-sharing events or forums
  • Production, representation or management services for Canadian artists, groups or organizations
  • Organizational development activities
  • Offering professional development and training to benefit artists and arts workers
  • Presentation to the public
  • Audience and market development in Canada and abroad
