Description

Travel is part of the Creating, Knowing and Sharing: The Arts and Cultures of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples program. It funds First Nations, Inuit and Métis individuals, groups, and organizations working in all disciplines. Grants support travel costs to attend significant events within Canada or abroad that advance professional development or artistic research, enable access to new markets or build national and international presence.

Eligible Applicants

Potential applicants:

  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis artists or arts/cultural workers
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis cultural carriers
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis emerging artists
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis groups or collectives
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis not-for-profit organizations
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis for-profit organizations

Individuals may include other travelers if their participation is needed to complete the activity.

For applications with multiple travelers, priority will be given to projects with a majority of First Nations, Inuit or Métis travelers.

Organizations that receive core grants can apply to this component.

Eligible Expenses

You can apply to:

  • share artistic works or cultural knowledge
  • participate in significant artistic or cultural events, including pow-wows
  • undertake research activities
  • build professional and artistic networks
  • engage in professional development opportunities
  • develop regional, national or international markets

Activities must be:

  • at least 100 kilometers from your place of departure
  • by invitation

You can apply for a single destination within 1 trip. If you are representing or promoting artists, you can request multiple trips.

Deadline Date

This program accepts applications on a continuous basis. Applicants must submit their application any time before their departure date. Please ensure you consult the official Canada Council for the Arts website for complete guidelines and specific requirements before applying.
