Description

The Languages at Work program provides wage subsidy for employers who want to offer employment opportunities to young people looking to work in their second language.

Eligible Applicants

  • Offer a rewarding work experience;
  • Hire a participant from another region of Canada taking part in the Explore program
  • Offer appropriate guidance and support;
  • Be in a position to pay the participant’s salary and salary top-up before receiving the YCW contribution for the placement.

Eligible Expenses

  • Wage subsidy of up to 65%;
  • Jobs lasting 6 to 8 weeks;
  • Jobs must begin after the spring session (and summer for Chicoutimi and Yellowknife) of the Explore program located near your city;
  • Minimum hourly wage for the province or territory +$2;
  • Full-time 30 to 40 hours/week;
  • Possibility of funding multiple positions.

Deadline Date

The Languages at Work program offers wage subsidies for employers to hire young people for summer employment in their second language. Employers apply through the Young Canada Works portal. While there isn't a single fixed deadline, job postings for the summer typically begin at the end of March. The program is cyclical, tied to the academic calendar and the Explore program.
