Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program | Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen)

Value

Project Costs should be between $1.5 million and $8 million (CAD). Eligible projects will be reimbursed at a funding rate of 40% of total eligible project costs.
Projects should have total project costs between CAD $3M and CAD $15M.

Description

The Global Innovation Cluster for Advanced Manufacturing will co-invest $35 million of Federal funds along with industry contributions to launch $87.5 million worth of new, world class innovation projects across Canada.

NGen will support collaborative, business-led projects that are aimed at de-risking, commercialization, and scaling-up innovative manufacturing capabilities in Canada.

Eligible Applicants

  • Be incorporated in Canada and have value-added presence in Canada (e.g., R&D, manufacturing) beyond a sales office.
  • Be one of the following:
    • A for-profit organization,
    • A not-for-profit organization that facilitates and funds research and development on behalf of the ecosystem and whose funding and/or revenue is received primarily from private-sector or industry organizations,
    • A non-federal Crown corporation whose funding is derived from commercial activities,
    • An Indigenous organization, or
    • Any other entity approved in advance by the Minister.

Project teams need to be structured as a consortium:

  • Projects must demonstrate meaningful collaboration with a minimum of two Canadian partners,
  • At least one partner needs to be a small-medium enterprise (SME; less than 500 employees globally),
  • Any one partner cannot receive more than 70% of the project’s total NGen reimbursement.

Eligible Expenses

NGen will invest up to $35 million of Global Innovation Cluster funding in collaborative industry-led projects, to be completed before January 31, 2028. Furthering the objective of this program, this program will co-invest in collaborative, industry-led projects that are aimed at de-risking, commercializing, and transforming manufacturing capabilities using novel world-class technology.

  • Create value for the Canadian economy.
  • Develop new processes throughout manufacturing value chains.
  • Develop manufacturing processes to scale Canadian manufacturing.
  • Increase the quality and reduce overall costs of manufacturing in Canada.
  • Promote sustainable and environmentally conscious manufacturing.
  • Build flexibility into production processes.

Deadline Date

The Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program (AMTP) is currently closed. NGen has announced that the program is no longer accepting applications. No future intake dates have been announced for this specific program. Please visit the official NGen website for any updates on future funding opportunities.
